As the capstone activity for the District 200 Entrepreneurship course, 170 8th grade students participated in the 2014 Spring Entrepreneurship Expo held at the Illinois Institute of Technology- Rice Campus this week. Students from the four middle schools presented their business models to judges from the NEW 200 Foundation, Wheaton Chamber of Commerce, and the Rotary Club of Wheaton.
The NEW 200 Foundation awarded a $1,500 cash prize toward the purchase of technology to Franklin Middle School, who won the competition.
The top student presenters from each middle school were:
Edison Middle School
1st Place: Dakota Tameling and Jackson Hicks – Chicago Winter Sports Exchange

3rd Place: Justin Seymour and Hayden Fischer – Seymour Fisch / Super Spooler
Franklin Middle School
1st Place: Rachel Janiak and Bain Thames – Front Street Kids
2nd Place (tie): Jacob Fisco – Green and Clean Lawn Service; Issy Keup, Kate Kortenhoeven, and Rose Quinn – IKR Bakery
3rd Place (tie): Drew Ogilvie – Drew’s Lawn Care; Paxton Kocher and Matt Frank – Frank and Koch’s Tackle Shop
Hubble Middle School
1st Place: Thomas Gordon and Benjamin Schlegel – Robot Town, Inc.
2nd Place: Bryan Kuhter – American Digital Repair
3rd Place: Julia Daniel – Footprint LLC.
Monroe Middle School
1st Place: Drew Stoneburner – StoneHard Stringing and Dyeing
2nd Place: Emily Barnhorst – The Tail Wag-Inn–Pet Daycare and Resort
