In March 2020, the Student Excellence Foundation established the Food Insecurity Crisis Fund, an emergency fund providing resources for District 200 students and families facing food insecurity. In October 2020, the Foundation expanded the Fund to meet additional needs.
28% of District 200 students come from low-income households.
3,310 students receive a free or reduced lunch every school day.
The Essential Needs Fund will continue to meet food insecurity needs through mobile food pantries, which feed at least 250 families with fresh food, including produce and dairy.
The Essential Needs Fund will meet winter weather gear needs in a season when typical assistance will not be available.
The Essential Needs Fund will provide for learning enrichment needs in a year of unprecedented learning challenges.
